Echo in Shanghai
“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
–Elliott Erwitt
My street photography can be summarized as "living my own life while observing other's lives". There are no pre-written storylines, just moments that happen randomly in front of my lens. I don't know the people who appear in my photos, nor do I know their circumstances. However, each random moment that I capture presents countless story possibilities.
In Shanghai, there are millions of people and millions of stories. Shanghai is known as an ultra-modern city. It is vibrant and bustling. But there are still many traces of Shanghai's historic and ancient past. My photographs, taken in the streets of Shanghai, present stories that connect the history of the city with the people who live there today.
